Uses of alt tag

Add alt tag to all of your images to get your links to Image search results. And Get some extra visitors from it. Alternate Text is not only for SEO It's main purpose. The "alt" attribute allows you to specify alternative text for the image if it cannot be displayed for some reason.
Also If you have used the image as a link, alt attribution will help Search Engine bots to navigate what the page is about. and also for the readers with non Image displaying browsers. and blind readers who use screen readers to surf Internet. Lets see how to add it for a better result.
Add alt tag
First you have to a little keyword research. Go to Google Keyword tool. and type some words that describes about your image. then choose the word with less competition and high monthly searches.after that you can Add your image to anywhere and in HTML view you will see you image code like this
<img src="Image-ink/image.jpg" />
Just change it in to this..
<img src="Image-ink/image.jpg" alt=" the word of your choice" />
now you are done with it
Other simple Optimizations
Simple but important,The Image search results do not depend on alt tag they use the file name ti identify the images to.. so adding a descriptive file name will be a Good help. So Don't use useless names for your images such as "Image1.jpg, 123.jpg, A1,jpg..etc"
Always remember to add a text or a alt text when adding a image link. otherwise the bots will understand those links as spam .
Try to add images in all browser supporting formats like PNG, JPG, GIF,.....etc

ReplyDeleteFilling alt tag of the image with the keyword is always helpful in the optimization. In the image tag there's one more option which tells the title or name of the image. This tag should also be filled with the word with which image is related.
